KaZaA: Tool to Big Business Advertising

After spending more time removing Adware and Spyware every time I try to use KaZaA I give up. It's not worth the aggravation... for every song I got assaulted by 20 to 30 Ad/Spyware programs.

P2P is not the way to share music.

I'll try to find another way, so wish me luck.

Faster The Rounder

Faster The Rounder is a concept I have had for 20 years... to mix, blend, shake and twist several styles of music into something unique.

The idea occurred (along with the name) when a friend and I were fooling around with BASIC trying to create a quiz program for Spacial Geometry. The idea was to enter facts, then generate a question and an answer.

We failed miserably.

Fact: The faster a planet orbits, the rounder the orbit.

Q & A generated: Q. Why is a mouse that spins A. The faster, the rounder

My first try at this concept was Oberon. I tried to get signed, and 2 years later (1983) I got a contract with Epic. There was 1 catch... I couldn't sing, so I had 4 months to find a vocalist or the contract expired.

It expired.

Oberon ended up with a completely new line-up by mid 1984 and was playing clubs in San Francisco and the east bay. I had saved to produce my own single and video, so in December 1984 Oberon cut "Lab Animals", a song opposed to the testing of make-up on animals and vivisection... both highly controversial.

We did a protest rally against the Stanford Research Facility and I met the man who was about to start "Basement Tapes" on MTV. He said my video could be the first ever Basement Tape if I could get to New York by Friday that week and personally hand the tape to him.

I was completely broke. (I even had to borrow a couple of dollars to get the equipment van back from the rally) I asked the other 4 members to kick in $25 each for a 1 way ticket to NY but they all had lame excuses. I tried everything, but couldn't get to NY.

I fired everyone, put my things in storage, and went to live on the streets in North Beach, SF.

Being a punk rocker from the mid 70's I soon was kicking with the punks. I was given the name "Mouse" by another punk.

That reminded me of the failed quiz program, and gave me the name of my band once I had gotten my life together again.

Faster The Rounder

with: the Mouse on Broadway on bass...guitar... drums... keyboards... sequencers... vocals (I learned to sing eventually)... and loops.

Since 1995 I have played and recorded all of the instruments myself, hoping to eventually get a band together again. This time I will focus on the performances and not the industry.

Well, that's all for now.

I want everyone to hear my songs. Still, I can't see being a slave to some big corporation that can decide not to release my songs if they don't think I'll sell 500,000 copies.

To me, every copy is important.

If you feel the same, feel free to promote your music.

And everyone, support each other. We're all after the same thing... exposure.

Let's have fun.

Larry, the mouse on Broadway...
